The UConn Alumni Association is proud to support current UConn students with a variety of scholarships. For more than 30 years, the Alumni Association has been awarding scholarships to deserving UConn students. New recipients receive awards each year. The scholarships are supported by generous alumni contributions, and many are named in memory of distinguished alumni of the University.
Scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year closed on February 1, 2008.
Applications for 2009-2010 academic year will be available online in late fall 2008.
UCAA Scholarship Eligibility Requirements 2008-2009
Current UConn Students
All current, University of Connecticut undergraduates (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors) who will be a full-time students in the 2008-2009 academic year. This includes students from all UConn campuses.
PLEASE NOTE: High school seniors are not considered current students and are not eligible for this scholarship. Full time as defined by the University of Connecticut is an undergraduate student registered for at least 12 semester hours and a graduate student registered for at least 6 semester hours.
UConn Seniors
You must be applying (or have been accepted) for full-time, first-year graduate studies at UConn for the 2008-2009 academic year. If you have not yet received notification of your admission status to UConn graduate school, you are still encouraged to apply.
The minimum criteria for scholarship applicants are the following:
- Responses to short essay question
- One current letter of recommendation
- Academic performance (students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher to apply)
- Financial need
Types of Scholarships
General Scholarships
No additional specified criteria. All applicants who meet the minimum criteria will be considered for these awards.
Legacy Scholarships
In addition to the eligibility requirements listed above, the applicant’s parent, grandparent or a sibling must be a UConn alum and a current dues-paying member of the UConn Alumni Association. (Refer to question No. 10 on the application.)
