CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Commencement Speakers and Honorary Degrees – 2008-2009

I write to solicit your nominations for Commencement Speakers and awards of honorary degrees at the University’s Commencement ceremonies in December 2008 and May 2009. The Board of Trustees has authorized the award of honorary degrees and the selection of Commencement speakers (who are often, but not always, honorary degree recipients).

Nominations may be made by any member of the faculty, staff, student body, administration, community, or Board of Trustees, or by an alumnus of the University. An individual may not nominate herself or himself. All nominations should be made and kept in the strictest confidence.

To submit a nomination, please download the materials from the Board of Trustees web site for Board Committees:

Nomination materials must be received no later than October 20, 2008 at the Office of the President (Gulley Hall – Unit 2048, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT 06269). I call your attention to the list of supporting information that is requested with the submission of a nomination form (available at the above Web site).
