Alumni Weekend 2008 Friday & Saturday, June 6 & 7 On-Line Registration is now available!!

Alumni Weekend 2008. Alums coming back to campus will include the
classes of 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, Alumni Marching Band, Alumni
Cheerleaders, African American Alumni, Student Leader Alumni as well as
other special interest/affinity groups.

On
Thursday, April 10th, the Alumni Association officially welcomed
Michael J. Hogan as the fourteenth President of UConn. Over 200 alumni,
faculty, staff and friends enjoyed a reception at The Hartford Club
that featured music by the Conn-Men and the Chris Espy Jazz Trio.
Opening remarks were delivered by Rich Twilley '96 from the Greater
Hartford Chapter, followed by Lisa Lewis, Executive Director of the
Alumni Association, who introduced President Hogan.
A special "thank you" goes to Rich Twilley and the Greater Hartford
Chapter for their efforts and dedication in planning this reception.

On March 18, UConn alumni living in Egypt
gathered for a reception at the Ain Shams University Guest House in
Cairo, Egypt. This event was co-sponsored by the UConn Alumni
Association, the School of Engineering and the Office of International

In an effort to recognize the
outstanding contributions of our alumni volunteer groups, the UConn
Alumni Association created the U-Awards Program in 2003. The 6th Annual
U-Awards will be presented to chapters, constituent societies and
affinity groups that have distinguished themselves through exceptional
program offerings at this year's Annual Meeting of the Alumni
Association on June 7, 2008.
Help recognize the outstanding contributions of our alumni volunteer groups by nominating one of them for a U-Award!
The following awards will be presented:
- The U-Learn Award
This will be awarded to the group that organizes the most outstanding
career or life-networking program. These programs include career
networking and professional development programs, life networking
opportunities, and/or lifelong learning/continuing education offerings.
- The U-Pride Award
This will be awarded to the group that
organizes the most outstanding social program. These programs include
social gatherings, sports related events and cultural activities.
- The U-Serve Award
This will be awarded to the group that
organizes the most outstanding community service program. This award is
offered in addition to our Outstanding Husky Service Month Project
Award. The U-Serve Award will recognize an outstanding service program
regardless of when it is offered.
- The U-Care Award
This will be awarded to the group that
organizes the most outstanding resource development and/ or advocacy
program. These programs include scholarships, book awards, Alumni
Association membership drives, fundraising, gift prospecting
activities, admissions programs and legislative advocacy.
Nominations are due by May 5, 2008.

Join
the Alumni Association in supporting Coach Calhoun, a cancer survivor,
in the CIGNA - Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride on June 8th in
Simsbury, Connecticut. This cycling event will benefit the Neag
Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UConn Health Center and Coaches vs.
Cancer. There will be rides of 10, 25 and 50 miles, with riders
participating from across the Northeast. All riders will receive a
great gift bag from Coach Calhoun.
- Register to ride by signing up as an individual, joining an existing team or starting a new team.
- Support Coach by donating online - he will be riding 50 miles!
- Volunteer to help on ride day.
