Josh Dunn ‘92
Distinguished Alumni Professorship Award 2008
Josh received his degree with a double major in Political Science
and Sociology from UConn in 1992. He went on to receive his JD from The
John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL. Upon his graduation from law
school he worked in Chicago as Counsel for the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco and Firearms until 1997 when he moved to Smith Barney where he
is currently Vice President of Wealth Management. He specializes in
financial planning, stock-option exercise strategies, setting up
gifting strategies and managing endowments for non-profit organizations.
He has been recognized by Smith Barney as one of their elite
Financial Advisors in the firm for the last seven years. He served on
the National Board of Directors of the UConn Alumni Association for six
years, serving on the executive committee for four years as Vice
President and Treasurer. While a member of the Board he founded the
Young Alumni Committee and served on the Finance Committee for three
years, two of which were as acting treasurer. He oversaw the financing
of the Alumni House in Storrs and has been a member of the Membership
& Marketing committee for the last six years. As Committee Chair,
he oversaw the formation of the Life Membership program and initiated
the “brick campaign” in the Alumni Center’s courtyard. He chaired the
Naming Committee that recommends to the Council and Board as to how to
structure the naming policies with regard to specific financial
donations.
He was appointed to the Alumni Association’s Alumni Council in 2005.
He currently serves on the Greater Hartford Chapter Board where he was
President from 2004-2006. He chairs the annual Greater Hartford Chapter
Coach Calhoun Tip-Off Dinner and has helped establish the Greater
Hartford Chapter Scholarship Endowment for the Greater Hartford Campus.
