Archambault elected Alumni Trustee
The Alumni Trustee Canvassing Committee recently announced that Francis X. Archambault '68 M.A., '69 Ph.D. has been elected as Alumni Trustee for a four-year term beginning on Sept. 1, 2009.
Fran is a Professor Emeritus in the Neag School of Education and a past president of the UConn Alumni Association. He is filling the Alumni Trustee position previously held by Phil Barry '54, who is completing his second term as Alumni Trustee.
The Alumni Association thanks both Fran Archambault and David Marks '69, '71 M.B.A. for their efforts in this campaign and for their many contributions to UConn over the years. This year, the number of alumni voters increased by 27 percent over the 2007 election.

Still the Best Public University in New England!
The University of Connecticut remained the best public university in New England for the 11th consecutive year, according to rankings released Thursday in the latest issue of U.S. News & World Report. The magazine also ranked UConn the 26th best public university in the nation – a category with more than 160 colleges and universities – and 66th best university in the nation among all 262 national universities, public or private. UConn R&D Corp. announces significant new activities
UConn R&D Corporation creates new business startups based on innovative technologies developed by UConn faculty. In July, two R&D startups announced significant new activities: Educational software company Renzulli Learning announced a new partnership with McGraw Hill, and environmentally friendly insecticide developer Venomix Inc announced a $1.8M convertible Series B investment from the Michigan Strategic Fund. "Locally Grown History" holds events across state
From now through Oct. 18, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the historical and agricultural treasures found in our region's backyard at 48 locations throughout Northwest Connecticut. Come Home, Huskies! Homecoming 2009
Meet up with UConn alumni and friends at Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 17! The Huskies take on Louisville at noon at Rentschler Field. Before the game, stop by the Spirit Village, and take part in the Tailgate BBQ, both outside Gate C. Bylaw changes for the UConn Alumni Association

Basketball great Lobo elected to Hall of Fame
Former UConn and New York Liberty star Rebecca Lobo is among six members of the Class of 2010 for the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony takes place on June 12, 2010, in Knoxville, Tenn. Read more

New magazine highlights success stories

UConn School of Business alumni, don't miss the inaugural issue of UConn Business magazine. This publication shares the many accomplishments of the School and its alumni. Ultimately, the quality of an institution is judged on the accomplishments of its graduates, and each volume of UConn Business will highlight some of our graduates' excellent achievements.

The School of Business' Full-Time MBA Program was ranked in Forbes' 6th biennial MBA Program Return on Investment rankings. Among public institutions alone, UConn ranks 12th nationally and is ranked 27th among all U.S. institutions.
UConn's MBA Program is ranked No. 1 for ROI among public business schools in New England and is one of only five business schools in New England to be ranked in the top 30 nationally, along with Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT and Yale.

Save the Lakes!
For generations of UConn students, Mirror Lake and Swan Lake have been scenic icons of the University. They bring to mind countless memories of early morning walks to class, views out of classrooms and dorms, and peaceful places to sit, read or gather. As the University tries to return both of these UConn landmarks to a better state of ecological balance, a Save the Lakes Fund has been established to support restoration and maintenance of both Mirror Lake and Swan Lake.
