Huskies Headed to International Bowl
UConn will play Buffalo in the 2009 International Bowl on Saturday, January 3, 2009, in Toronto, Ontario. The game will kickoff at 12 p.m. at the Rogers Centre and will be televised nationally in the United States by ESPN2. Tickets are now on sale!

First Austin Chair named
Kathleen Segerson, a professor of economics in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been named by the Board of Trustees to fill the Philip E. Austin Chair for a three-year term.

UConn professor, administrator to become dean of Neag School
Thomas DeFranco, associate dean of the Neag School of Education, has been named dean for a five-year term, starting in summer 2009. DeFranco will replace Richard Schwab, who is stepping down after 12 years as dean.

Winter graduation ceremony set for December 14
Denis M. McCarthy, retired chairman, CEO, and president of Fidelity Management Trust Co., a subsidiary of Fidelity Investments, will deliver the keynote address during Commencement on Dec. 14. More than 800 students are expected to graduate during the University's sixth annual mid-term Commencement Exercises.

Photo exhibit features children in need of adoptive families
The Heart Gallery now on display in the Health Center's Keller Lobby is a photo art exhibit featuring children and youth in state care who need an adoptive family. The project blends professional artistry with the goal of raising public awareness about adoption.

New OTC website increases exposure to alumni, others
The Office of Technology Commercialization is pleased to launch a new web site developed to increase exposure to UCONN commercialization activities for a variety of audiences. According to OTC Managing Director Bruce Carlson, "Commercialization of UCONN research is a key component of the University’s new academic plan. Our goal is to increase the involvement of alumni, faculty and students in the commercialization process by providing information that will facilitate access to UCONN intellectual property and other resources of interest to industry and entrepreneurs."

Annual UConn Club auction supports student scholarships
The UConn Club annual auction will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 in the West Exhibition Hall at the XL Center in Hartford. Auction hours are 11:00 am - 1:30 pm, prior to the Men’s Basketball game versus Seton Hall. Admission to the Auction is free and you do not need a game ticket to attend! All proceeds from the Auction benefit The UConn Club General Athletic Scholarship.
