The UConn Alumni Association has established a program designed to reconnect those with shared UConn experiences so they may network, socialize and support their alma mater. Definition: Any current or former student organization or group of individuals who share a common connection or campus experience and who desire to affiliate with each other through the parent Alumni Association are eligible to petition the University of Connecticut Alumni Association for group status. Alumni Groups sponsor social and networking activities, lifelong learning and continuing education, and outreach to students/young alumni.

Groups affiliating with the Alumni Association fall into one of five classifications based on their level of activity and organization. (Freshman for start-up, through graduate level for the most well-established groups.)

What Does the Alumni Association Provide to Affiliated Groups?

  • Staff liaison to assist with planning and communication
  • Promotion of group activities including Alumni Association Web site, events calendar, blast e-mails.
  • Facilitate scholarships payment with Financial Aid (for groups that qualify).
  • Online services via UConnAlumni.com, including event calendar, event registration, searchable e-mail directory and the Husky Alumni Network.
  • Membership recruitment materials and mailings.
  • Alumni group financial administration and report outs.
  • Tax exemption.
  • Liability insurance.
  • Use of the Alumni Center at no charge for group meetings and events.
  • Annual U-Awards presented to alumni groups with outstanding programs.
  • Alumni contact lists for group engagement and event promotion.
  • Event materials (name tags, fliers, etc.) and Uconn spirit items for your programs.
  • Use of the UConn Alumni Association brand (i.e. logo, Web site, promotional materials).

Key Ways Alumni Groups Can Support the UConn Alumni Association

  • Support the goals of the Alumni Association: Connect Alumni, Support Students and Strengthen UConn.
  • Encourage the involvement of alumni and students so they become, and remain, active members of the University of Connecticut family.
  • Provide diverse programming for UConn alumni, families and friends such as career networking, life-long learning, community service, membership services, legislative advocacy, social events, student services and young alumni programs.
  • Support key Alumni Association programs such as Alumni Weekend, Homecoming, the U-Awards and the Alumni & Faculty Awards.
  • Promote the Husky Alumni Network and the Career Network to bolster the online alumni community.
  • Enable the Alumni Association to communicate regularly with its graduates and for graduates to communicate with their alma mater
  • Foster a sense of pride in the University of Connecticut
  • Sustain and enhance visibility of the University of Connecticut.
